Spent almost three hours in the Palais des Papes in Avignon! Incredible cumulative architecture accreted over the years under the power of the popes, settled in the papal states of Avignon and the Comtat Venaissin while Rome was just too dangerous for them. It was fascinating to learn how the pope and his court lived and expressed their power. Not allowed to take pictures, but took them anyway! Location : Avignon, France
